- Area & Forest Health Assessment: Orbify’s satellite data analysis provided objective measurements of above-ground carbon and monitored recent and ongoing deforestation. This technology allows for accurate measurement and comparison with non-satellite sourced data, ensuring precise area and forest health assessments.
- Forest Health Monitoring: Using Orbify’s satellite data, InvestConservation could continuously monitor the forest health of the area. The platform revealed typical forest health patterns by measuring chlorophyll levels, helping to identify any deviations or unexpected changes in the ecosystem.
- Aboveground Biomass Carbon Measurement: Orbify’s platform measured the total biomass for Copalinga, even with the finite number of data points due to the small reserve size. The platform’s advanced algorithms and satellite data integration ensured accurate biomass carbon calculations, essential for carbon market participation and impact reporting.
- Rate of Deforestation – Outside of the Reserve: Orbify’s satellite analysis determined the rate of deforestation within a defined reference area. Using high-resolution Planet data, the platform assessed deforestation rates accurately by excluding irrelevant land and focusing on natural forests within specific elevation bands. This precise deforestation monitoring supports informed decision-making and conservation strategies.
InvestConservation is committed to deepening its collaboration with Orbify. Moving forward, they plan to enhance the standardized annual reporting they receive from Orbify. By the first quarter of each calendar year, InvestConservation aims to automatically generate comprehensive reports for an increasing number of reserves worldwide. This will not only streamline their reporting process but also allow for more efficient scaling of their conservation efforts. Additionally, InvestConservation plans to integrate these reports into independent carbon registries, further validating their impact and enhancing transparency for their stakeholders.
